Intro to Colorwork Class (Aug 20, 27, & Sept 3)

Description: Learn stranded colorwork by making a fun customizable cowl featuring Doodles by Pacific Knit Co.! We'll use Pacific Knit Co.'s Doodle Cowl base and mix and match your favorite simple Doodles to create an adorable, wearable accessory. Celeste will teach you how to carry two yarns at once, read colorwork charts, manage your tension and how to swatch in colorwork.
Materials to bring:
Yarn: Any DK, light worsted, or sport weight yarn. We recommend Kelbourne Woolens Germantown DK or Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Worsted.
Yardage listed in total yards per size due to the customizable nature of this pattern. Bring enough for your desired size.

Small 20" size: 340; Medium 24" size: 400; Large 28" Size: 465 yards

Approx. (1) 100g skein each of main color and contrast color or (3-6) 20g skeins of contrast colors for multi colored option.
Needles:

Main Fabric: US 5/3.75 mm or size to obtain gauge

Ribbing: US 4/3.5 mm or one size smaller than gauge

in 16" or 24" circular or 32" or longer circular for Magic Loop.
Pattern: Basic Doodle (Standard Cowl) by Jamie Lomax. Students must purchase their own copy of the pattern. Doodle charts are included with base pattern. Additional Doodle charts may be purchased from Pacific Knit Co. as well. We highly recommend you print out all charts you want to incorporate into your cowl.
We will cover gauge and color decisions in session 1 so don't stress too much on bringing the perfect materials to the first class! A tip to figure out if your colors are contrasting enough: Take a photo of your two colors using your phone or tablet, use the filter to turn it to black and white. They should still appear as obviously different shades.

Class Policy: This class requires a minimum of 5 students. Notification of cancellation will be sent within 3 days before class start time if the minimum is not met. In the case of shop cancellation, all registered students will be refunded the class fee. Any additional fees including materials and shipping will not be refunded. Student cancellations are not refundable. Store Credit or class transfers may be issued for student cancellations up to 3 days before class start date. After that, no transfers, refunds or store credits will be issued. Missed classes or no-shows can not be refunded, exchanged or transferred.
Covid Policy: Masks are currently optional but encouraged. Please bring your own mask. Please do not attend class if you are not feeling well or have come into contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within 5 days of class start time.
