Skill Level: Intermediate Beginner - student should know how to cast on, knit and purl. No circular knitting or hat knitting experience needed.

Class Description:

Learn to knit a hat! This class will introduce you to joining and knitting in the round, hat shaping, sizing and more tips for getting a great fitting knitted hat! We will be knitting the Barley Hat by Tin Can Knits. Pattern is free to download on Ravelry or Tin Can Knits. Each student must have their own copy of the pattern.

Materials Required: 

Yarn

100g of worsted or DK weight yarn of your choice. We suggest Brown Sheep Nature Spun Worsted for a warm woolly hat or Kelbourne Woolens Scout DK for a lighter hat. If you want to knit a larger size hat, you may need more yarn so we suggest bringing 200g of your yarn.

Needles

Worsted weight hat: 16" length US 6 circular needle and size US 8 in either a 36" circular or longer for Magic Loop or Double Pointed Needles if you don't want to learn Magic Loop.

DK weight hat: 16” US 4 circular needle and size US 6 in either a 36” circular or longer for Magic Loop or Double Pointed Needles if you don’t want to learn Magic Loop.

Class Minimum: 5 students

Class Maximum: 8 students

Class Policy: This class requires a minimum of 5 students. Notification of cancellation will be sent within 3 days before class start time if the minimum is not met. In the case of shop cancellation, all registered students will be refunded the class fee. Any additional fees including materials and shipping will not be refunded. Student cancellations are not refundable. Store Credit or class transfers may be issued for student cancellations up to 3 days before class start date. After that, no transfers, refunds or store credits will be issued. Missed classes or no-shows can not be refunded, exchanged or transferred.

Covid Policy: Masks are currently optional but encouraged. Please bring your own mask. Please do not attend class if you are not feeling well or have come into contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within 5 days of class start time.
