Novella Cabled Hat Class

Skills Level: Intermediate (comfortable knitting, purling, reading knitting instructions)

Class Description: Explore the world of continuous all over cables, while we knit the Novella hat together. In this class go over the fundamentals of working cables, how to read cables in written and in chart form, and how to approach cables that are worked continuously around the fabric.

Class Minimum: 3 students

Class Maximum: 8 students

Materials Required**:

  • The Novella Cabled Hat Pattern by Makenzie Alvarez.
  • US3/3.25 mm - 16”/40 cm circular needle and DPNs or long cable needle to make the crown, or size needed to obtain gauge
  • US2/2.75 mm - 16”/40 cm circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Cable needle
  • Fingering weight yarn - 240 yds/219 m
  • Stitch markers.

You will receive a handout during class on basic cable knitting, with cables covered during class, and photo tutorials.

*Please arrive to class with all materials, your own pattern copy and your yarn wound and ready to crochet with.
**Students must purchase their own copy and bring it with them (printed or digital) to participate in this class.

Homework: Before you come to class, with the designated yarn and needles that meet gauge, work the brim of the hat. This way we can jump right into the cable fun in class.

Class Policy: This class requires a minimum of 3 students. Notification of cancellation will be sent within 3 days before class start time if the minimum is not met. In the case of shop cancellation, all registered students will be refunded the class fee. Any additional fees including materials and shipping will not be refunded. Student cancellations are not refundable. Store Credit or class transfers may be issued for student cancellations up to 3 days before class start date. After that, no transfers, refunds or store credits will be issued. Missed classes or no-shows can not be refunded, exchanged or transferred.

Covid Policy: Masks are currently optional but encouraged. Please bring your own mask. Please do not attend class if you are not feeling well or have come into contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within 5 days of class start time.
