Beginning Knit Cables Class
Taught by Makenzie Alvarez of Hanks and Needles
When: Thursday, September 26th from 6-8pm, in-person
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner; Knitter should be comfortable knitting, purling, and reading knitting instructions.
Class Description:
Explore and develop the fundamental skills of cable knitting. This class will teach you step by step
instructions for three cables (a twist, braid, and a classic Celtic cable), how to read cables in written
and in chart form, how to work cables with (and possibly without) a cable needle. These building blocks will set you up to take on any cable pattern.
Materials to Bring (available to purchase at Weird Sisters):
Homework (required):
Before you come to class, prepare your swatch as follows: With the designated yarn and needles, cast on 36 stitches and knit 4 rows of garter stitch (knit to end of every row for 4 rows). Leave stitches on needles, do not bind off. Bring this to class with you. You will continue knitting on this swatch during class.

Class Policy: This class requires a minimum of 3 students. Notification of cancellation will be sent within 3 days before class start time if the minimum is not met. In the case of shop cancellation, all registered students will be refunded the class fee. Any additional fees including shipping of materials will not be refunded. Student cancellations, missed classes or no-shows can not be refunded, exchanged or transferred.
Covid Policy: Masks are currently optional but encouraged. Please bring your own mask. Please do not attend class if you are not feeling well or have come into contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within 5 days of class time.
